The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity forges collaboration and technical cooperation with various partner agencies in its delivery of support to ASEAN Member States’ bid to conserve and protect the rich biological resources of the region. These include organizations engaged in biodiversity conservation and protection and global holders of biodiversity information such as:
  • Catalogue of Life (COL). COL is a joint creation of the Species 2000 and Integrated Taxonomic Information Systems (IT IS) organizations, with the objective of accumulating and synthesizing knowledge about the entire diversity of life, and to create a uniform and validated index to all known species for use throughout society. 


  • FishBase Information and Research Group, Inc. (FIN). FIN is a domestic non-stock, non-profit, non-governmental organization established in the Philippines in 2003 for the purpose of supporting the growth of FishBase ( and SeaLifeBase (, both public domain information systems dedicated to enhance understanding, conservation and management of fishes and aquatic organisms worldwide. 


  • Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). GBIF was established by governments in 2001 to encourage free and open access to biodiversity data, through the internet. It promotes and facilitates the mobilization, access, discovery and use of information about the occurrence of organisms over time and across the planet. 


  • International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). IUCN is a membership organization made up of more than 1,000 organizations, as well as 10,000 individual scientists and experts structured in six Commissions. The priorities and work of IUCN are set by Member organizations every four years and subsequently coordinated by a professional secretariat with 1,100 staff in more than 60 ountries. 



  • School of Environmental Science and Management (SESAM). SESAM offers integrated instruction, research, and extension programs in environmental science and management. Its main thrusts are the development of science and methodologies for sustainable and productive natural resource management in cooperation with different units of UPLB. 


  • UNEP World Conservation and Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC). UNEP-WCMC is UNEP’s specialist biodiversity and assessment arm providing a range of biodiversity-related services to UNEP, governments, Multilateral Environmental Agreements and their constituent party states, and other bodies in the NGO and private sectors.
